Services

Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of an annual physical examination. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. We offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your companions feeling their best:

Vaccines: Our hospital provides a variety of vaccines for dogs, cats and ferrets.  We encourage you to discuss with your veterinarian the different vaccines, your pets lifestyle, travel plans and history to determine the best vaccine protocol for your pet.

Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services:  Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs.  Canine heartworm tests, Felv/FIV, and dermatological diagnostics can be done while you wait.

Surgical Services:  All City Pet Care West offers a wide variety of surgical options to minimize your pets stress and pain levels, while making recovery move more quickly and completely.  We offer a full line of soft tissue and orthopedic procedures that eccompass most everything from the routine to more intricate and advanced.

  • Laparoscopic:  Minimally invasive procedures performed through a small (1/2 inch) incision.  Many procedures are offered using this option including Ovariohysterectomy (Spay), Cryptorchid Castration (Neuter), Liver biopsy, Intestinal surgery, Urinary Bladder surgery, and other abdominal procedures/problems.
  • Arthroscopic: Specific procedures performed on joints using a small camera and instrument ports which make the procedure more precise and less invasive.
  • Laser: A procedure using the novapulse laser, sealing the blood vessels and nerve endings, making the procedure more comfortable and safe for your pet.
  • Orthopedic: We offer a full line of orthopedic surgery at our hospital. These include, but are not limited to, fracture repair from simple fractures to more advanced fractures such as pelvic or open fractures.  Also offered is Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO) surgery for cruciate ligament damage of the knee.  We always appreciate the opportunity to give you a consultation on your orthopedic probelms and concerns so that you may make the best possible decision regarding your pets health.
  • PennHIP:  A technique for the evaluation of hip health and hip displaysia, which can be performed completely as young as 16 weeks.

Anesthesia:  We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients. Using the most modern equipment, the patient's vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures.

Endoscopy Services:  This type of procedure provides a non-invasive way to evaluate the "inside" of the stomach, small intestine and colon.  It can be used to remove small foreign objects from the Gastro Intestinal tract or to obain biopsies for a diagnosis of such diseases as cancer or inflammatory bowel disease.

Radiology Services:  Our on-site, modern X-ray equipment provides high quality radiographs to aid in the quick diagnosis of many disorders.

Ultrasound Services: Our ultrasound equipment provides us with the ability to evaluate the abdomen for  problems and conditions such as tumors, urinary bladders stones, pregnancy, and abnormal organ pathology.

Electrocardiography Services:  We provide ECG services on-site as well as consultations with cardiology specialists.

Video Otoscope Services: Video Otoscope enables you to see what we see when evaluating your pets ear canals.  We can also perform deep ear cleaning and minor procedures with the use of this procedure.

Dentistry:  Our dental services include teeth cleaning with an ultrasonic scaler and polishing, tooth extractions and minor oral surgery. Dental disease can lead to damange of the liver, kidneys, and heart valves.  Routine dental care and brushing is recommended for dogs and cats.  Ask us to show you how.

Laboratory:  Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for serum chemistry, hematology, serology, urinalysis and parasite testing. We also utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations.

Permanent identification (Microchipping): Our hospital is able to place a small microchip (about the size of a grain of rice) underneath the skin of your pet, between the shoulder blades, to allow for permanent identification. In the unfortunate case that your pet is lost or stolen, this allows for identification and recovery.  The microchip can be detected by a scanner used by veterinary hospitals, rescue groups, humane socities and animal control departments. It is a simple procedure that can be performed during a routine appointment.

Pharmacy:  We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, shampoos, flea and tick control products and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet. We also carry a full line of prescription diets.

Individualized Flea Control Programs:  We develop programs for the specific needs of your pet and your own particular environmental situation. We will review with you the best ways to control fleas in your house, in your yard and on your pet.

Dietary Counseling:  We will provide guidance regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance.

Behavioral Counseling:  We can provide advice regarding the correction of problems such as excessive barking, chewing, spraying, scratching, digging, house soiling and aggression.

Boarding:  We provide pet boarding as a service to our clients under 30 pounds, due to kennel size. All boarders receive personal attention from our caring staff. Pets may be dropped off and picked up during regular business hours Monday through Saturday.
